About Rachel's Yoga Practice

Rachel was driven to become a Yoga Teacher by her search for meaning and healing in her life.  

The style of yoga she guides towards reflects the value of her teachers, Molly Masoaka RYT-500 of Yoga Centered and Liz Heffernan, MA, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, of Soma Yoga Institute. Before attending her YTT at Kalani, a wonderful place for healing and growing on the Big Island of Hawaii, Rachel had practiced Yoga for most of her life. She was taught by her aunts before the age of 5 and she practiced throughout her growth into adulthood without being fully conscious of the benefits of her own practice. 

Since her certification in March of 2016 Rachel's hands on experience as a RYT-200 Yoga Teacher has been all encompassing. She enjoys working with children as young as 6 months new! Her time spent working with Fly Yoga Arts allowed her to work in several schools and camps alleviating the stress of teachers and parents and providing her valuable education in finding a Yoga Practice that speaks to young minds, bodies and hearts. Rachel began her own children's classes integrating environmental and oceanic concerns into her compassionate curriculum and also taught within Living Classroom at the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance. 

For Adult Classes Rachel's regular teaching hours are spent at Rockaway Love Studio, at 90-16 Rockaway Beach Blvd in Rockaway Beach NY. Most classes at this location are suitable for mature teens and adults of all ages and capabilities. Rachel is very sensitive to each individuals needs and experience. She does not teach exclusively Pre-Natal but is knowledgable of adjustments to offer. 

Rachel thrives from being able to share this practice. She brings light to each student and guides with hands and words of love. Always encouraging softness and kindness towards ourselves, even in building strength.  She utilizes fundamental alignment to safely guide each body back to it's "optimal blue print." Props are encouraged to find more comfort and strength. Rachel truly believes that Anyone can practice yoga, any body is capable. From the beginning of life until the end. Classes and private lessons contain not only physical movements but mediation and breath work to guide students to reconnect with the light that lives inside us all.
